About
our Patients
"Chance
was born on July 21, three months premature, and had to be
hospitalized until his due date. He weighed one pound, 11.9
ounces. The hardest part was when we realized that Chance wouldn’t
be going home with us. We were lucky to get a furnished
apartment about a mile from the med center. It cost $825 a
month, in addition to our other living expenses. We’re
self-employed; a lot of parents couldn’t do this. One couple
drove up from Russellville after he worked the night shift. They
would spend the day, then drive back. That’s got to be hard.
It would be a lot better for the parents—and the babies—if
there were an affordable place to stay within walking distance
of the hospital."
